Rockit Scientist closed so I had to stop at Kim’s instead. Oops. (Taken with picplz.)
Hey Hey Hey, No Decay
ADA ApprovedThree things:
1. East Village Radio is on my shortlist of all time favorite radio stations.
2. Veronica Vasicka, DJ and owner of the label Minimal Wave, has a kick ass show every Sunday from 6 to 8 pm.
3. Alessandro, from Mannequin Mailorder, is a guest on tonight’s show.
Minimal Wave is one of my favorite record labels and I have ordered quite a few LPs from Mannequin in the past. In fact, I sent Alessandro a message while I was in Rome to find all the best rekkid shops. The list he gave me was amazing; each shop was an absolute goldmine for someone who’s into dark wave, cold wave, minimal synth, and early industrial music.
(Of course, the week I was there, all the shops were closed for summer vacation. Go figure.)
After boxing hundreds of rekkids.
I don’t think I can do Record Store Day 2012, ‘cause these rekkids don’t move themselves. Sorry Academy, Rockit Scientist, Other Music, Permanent, et all.
You know I love you!

I’m just getting started. I haven’t even made a dent. (Taken with picplz.)
It’s a foggy night here in Gotham, so I am sitting at home and listening to my collection of Numero Group LPs.
During my last visit to Rochester, I bought an enormous slab of black granite from the weirdest estate sale in history. It’s about 3” thick, 24” across and 16” deep. The ladies running the sale gave me a strange look when I asked for a price, the “boy, you’ve lost your mind” look… (I know it well).
From the moment I laid eyes on it, I knew what I wanted to do. See above for reference.
The soundtrack to Carl Sagan’s Cosmos is the perfect music to play Mario Kart by… (Taken with picplz.)
Bop Shop losing its lease at Village Gate Square | Democrat and Chronicle | democratandchronicle.com ›
This really sucks. An awesome independant record store is losing it’s lease because the owner of the complex is moving in a Brazilian Steak house. Come the fuck on.
I hope he can find a new location that will thrive. I’m pretty sure the South Wedge could use a record store.
it has one! it is called needle drop! it is behind liberty tax!
UGH! The Bop Shop is one of my favorite record shops of all time! This is terrible news.
I am convinced that Stern Properties is systematically trying to ruin the Village Gate. Since I was a kid, it has been my dream to buy the Village Gate from Stern and make it cool again.
