Today Part III: Above is a map of my total trip, which was about 25 miles. After I explored Ditmas, I went home to swap out my Atala for my own bike, and I rode up to Greenpoint to finish some “pc trickery” with my friend Matt. The hard part was riding from Greenpoint back to my apartment, as I had things to carry unlike the rest of my journey. I had two loaded packs strapped across my chest and back which added up to about 50 lbs. Trying to prevent them from falling and keeping my balance proved to be one of the most difficult things I have done on a bicycle. That, coupled with the wind, weather, and lack of gloves made my experience less than pleasurable. However, the words of encouragement and fingerbangs that I received from oncoming cyclists did much to improve my morale, even if for a brief period.

Now I am back home, warm, dry, and feasting upon some of the finest chinese food Crown Heights has to offer.

Today Part II: So I rode through Ditmas and the other ares that reminded me of Rochester. There was this insane mansion on the corner of Albemarle and Argyle, it looked like The Klopek’s house from The ‘Burbs. It was fantastic, and easily one of the largest homes I have seen in Ditmas thus far. It was also in disrepair and begging for my ownership. The property was plastered with “Beware of Dog” signs and there was a PT Cruiser with a recent detail job parked in back. While the appearance of the home or presence of “Beware of Dog” signs didn’t discourage me from knocking on their door and asking to buy their house, the PT Cruiser did. I figured nobody in their right mind would own one, therefore the owner of the house must be completely insane. Shortly thereafter I spotted a house at 111 Clarkson Ave that would make make Edie Beale look like Mary Poppins.

Today Part I: Early in the morning I decided I would ride all the way out to Bay Ridge to investigate some remote thrift stores, hoping that they wouldn’t be ransacked by hipsters like the one in Bed Stuy. My mission was t~~o explore strange~~ ~~new~~ ~~worlds; to~~ ~~seek out new life and new civilizations~~; to buy more Pendleton shirts, as they are my unofficial winter uniform. Unfortunately for me, I made it there not realizing that it was Janna’s Kryptonite lock that I took, and not my own. I made the most of my mistake and took extra time on the return trip to explore the less traveled areas of Brooklyn.
