ATTENTION AMERICA, GUIDO IS NOT A DEROGATONY WORD!
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME AND NOTHING COULD BE BETTER
For once, my horoscope was spot on; I’ve had the best 48 hour break in a long time. So many positive things have happened to me by chance and I only seem to be attracting good fortune at this time. It was as if all the kind words I said to strangers and patience I had for the crazies finally caught up to me. All day long, people were just piling on the compliments and good advice. To be...

I won't buy their cars, but I will buy just about...
I take pride in the fact that most of the things I own were made in the USA. Sure, I love to collect things from around the globe, and I have plenty of things from Italy, Germany, Denmark and Japan. However, absent from my collection are contemporary pieces made in China and the far east. My pursuit is most easily observed in my quest to locate vintage Pendleton and Woolrich garments, or my...

I like it when my iTunes plays Travis' old songs...
but I still wish my apartment could generate Travis on my sofa for all those times I want to browse the internet and talk about conceptual art.

I need somebody with nerd skills.
I would like it if somebody could write an iPod/iPhone application that could allow me to catalog my LP/CD/Tape collection so I can stop buying duplicates and start buying things I don’t have. As much as I’d like to say otherwise, keeping track of thousands of things is not an easy task, even for my information sponge.

subtilitas:
I’ve been a fan of Peter Hvidt’s furniture for awhile now. Although he never received the recondition of his colleges (Juhl, Wegner etc), I always admired the subtle details, finishing, and proportions of his pieces.
So recently I was pretty excited to win one of his original 1955 daybed/sofas for France and Sons (pictured above, not mine but the same) on ebay. I like the somewhat...

I remember hearing that there was only one place left that still develops Kodachrome, but I couldn’t remember where it was. After a quick internet search I found it, and I came across this video as well.
I’ve always ranked finding 35mm slides as my top garbage pick. Well above Campagnolo equipped Raleighs, genuine Knoll Saarinen tulip tables, and obscure LPs in near mint condition....

Splitting, Bingo/Ninths, and Substrait by Gordon Matta-Clark.
Gordon’s father was a surrealist and his godfather was a famed dadaist chess player by the name of Marcel Duchamp. He studied architecture at Cornell, but never formally practiced, preferring to focus on what he called “Anarchitecture.” He also worked as an assistant to Robert Smithson and Dennis Oppenheim before...

A nice break.
It’s nice to shut off my eyes for a little while and let my brain and ears do all the work. I really love having an awesome stereo, crates of wax, and piles of silver discs at my disposal. What a way to bring in 2010.
